BELIEFS
Historic Faith. Reformed Conviction. Kingdom Vision.
At Renfrew Baptist Church, we confess the historic Christian faith "once for all delivered to the saints" (Jude 3). Our theological convictions stand in continuity with believers throughout the ages, summarized in the great historic creeds of the church: the Apostles' Creed, Nicene Creed, Athanasian Creed, and the Chalcedonian Creed.
We embrace a Reformed theological understanding of salvation, affirming God's sovereign grace in rescuing sinners through faith alone in Christ alone (Eph. 2:8-9; Rom. 8:29-30). Following the pattern of the church in the New Testament, we practice believer's baptism and maintain a regenerate church membership of those who have made a credible profession of their faith in Jesus Christ (Acts 2:41; Rom. 6:3-4).
Furthermore, we believe the gospel of God's Kingdom is not merely about individual salvation, but speaks to every dimension of human existence -- family, work, culture, and society (Matt. 4:23; Mark 1:14-15). In Christ, all things are being reconciled to God (Eph. 1:10; Col. 1:20), and the church has been commissioned to proclaim this good news and its implications for all of life to all the nations (Matt. 28:18-20).
