LEADERSHIP

Pastor Darcy Van Horn

Pastor Frederick Eaton
Elders (pastors) are entrusted with the glorious privilege and sober responsibility of caring for and leading the people whom Jesus purchased with his own blood (Acts 20:28). They must be qualified men who are able to faithfully minister the Word of God, set an example for the flock, and exercise authority, all in accordance with the Scriptures.
As those who will give an account for their leadership of God’s people (James 3:1), elders are dependent upon the grace of God in Christ and the empowering presence of the Holy Spirit. Although the language on our website may differentiate between vocational elders (pastors) and non-vocational elders, it’s important to note that these are not two different offices or roles. As 1 Peter 5:1-2 and Acts 20:28 make clear, elders are those who pastor the church and provide oversight.

Deacons are entrusted with the vital work of serving the practical needs of the congregation, freeing the elders to devote themselves to prayer and the ministry of the Word (Acts 6:1-4). They must be qualified men of proven character, full of wisdom and the Holy Spirit, who give themselves to the tangible care of God's people.
As those who serve the body of Christ in this way, deacons reflect the servant heart of Jesus himself, who came not to be served but to serve (Mark 10:45). The diaconate is not a lesser office but a distinct and honored one — a ministry through which the love of the church is made visible in practical, sacrificial action.
