MISSION
Our Purpose: To Glorify God by Enjoying Him
Since 1930, Renfrew Baptist Church has been proclaiming the unsearchable riches of Christ in our community. Our mission flows from the Westminster Catechism's answer to the question about why we exist: to glorify God and enjoy Him forever. We believe these are not two separate callings -- we seek to glorify God by enjoying Him. And we enjoy God by knowing His Son, Jesus Christ (John 17:3; Rom. 5:11).
Our Practice: Word, Worship, & Whole-Life Discipleship
How do we seek to fulfill our mission? We are committed to the faithful preaching and teaching of God's Word because Scripture is His revealed truth (John 17:17; 2 Tim. 3:16-17). And we take seriously what it means to live out our faith in Jesus Christ -- seeking the Lord in prayer, glorifying Him in our corporate worship, and being ambassadors of His Kingdom wherever we go. Thus, our faith is not confined to Sunday mornings or the "spiritual" or "religious" parts of life. Rather, we seek to bring all of Christ into all of life.
Our Pursuit: Knowing Christ & Making Him Known
As a church family, we are pursuing spiritual maturity in Christ together. We are not satisfied with merely knowing the truth about Jesus Christ; we earnestly desire to be transformed by the Spirit and have the character of Christ formed in us (Col. 1:27; Rom. 8:29; Gal. 5:22-23). An important means for accomplishing this is our ministry to one another (Eph. 4:11-16). Therefore, we seek to grow in our love for the Lord and our neighbour by living out the many "one another" commands in Scripture (John 13:34-35).
When we truly delight ourselves in Christ, that joy naturally overflows, and we cannot help but make Him known by our words and deeds. Our aim is to know Christ and make Him known in Vancouver and beyond, multiplying the glory that God receives as more people come to enjoy Him (2 Cor. 4:15).
